Mixmasters:

Four Approaches to Hybrid Writing

Ended
From 150 US dollars
East Washington Street

Available spots

Service Description

Is your writing hard to categorize? Do you like to blend genres or modes of expression? Do you take inspiration from forms not typically considered literary? Or, perhaps you're feeling a little bound by the rules? Take this chance to work with four editors from Brink, Iowa City's own literary magazine of hybrid writing. Each editor will discuss a favorite piece of writing published in Brink and design a prompt inspired by its modes of expression. Time in each session will be divided between presentation, generative writing, non-mandatory sharing, light positive feedback and discussion. This class is recommended for veteran experimentalists who want to generate new work, or for those working in more traditional modes who wish to enliven an existing piece of work, or practice.
