Care & Spark

Care and Spark is a space for artists who are parents. These free sessions will be held by a different parent-artist each month. It will be a space to share stories, connect, and take inspiration from successful creator caretakers in Iowa City and surrounding areas.

Our first session will be led by Katie Runde! Katie Runde grew up on the Jersey Shore, where her family ran boardwalk businesses. Her debut novel, The Shore, was published in May 2022 by Scribner and was an Indie Next pick, as well as a New York Times editors' choice, a Barnes and Noble Discover pick, and an Amazon editors' pick. The Shore was named a best new book by Entertainment Weekly, Shondaland, Glamour, and The Millions. She also has recent work published in LitHub and Catapult, and she holds an MFA from Warren Wilson College. She lives in Iowa City with her husband and two daughters.
