Poetry Exchange

Porchlight's poetry exchange provides community, close readings and feedback on drafts of new poems. Our approach to critique in non-hierarchical and writer centered. That means that group facilitators put their work up for critique, and that writers have plenty of room to ask the group questions about how their work has been interpreted and experienced. Comments made on the work are mostly descriptive and experiential. Suggestions for change are made only at the writers request.

Regular participants may send one poem for workshop at least one week in advance of the gathering. Every participant should read each submission before the meeting, write up their feedback in a short letter to the writer, and come prepared to share their thoughts during the meeting.
