About the event

The project is supported by an Iowa City Public Arts Grant. We couldn't be happier to continue our second session on June 1st at 1:00. Come plant and write. We will ground our bodies, and let our creative minds blossom. This is a free event and all ages and levels of experience are welcome.

Jesus “Chuy” Renteria is from West Liberty; Iowa’s first majority Hispanic town. Chuy’s writing explores the spaces between cultures. Their memoir, “We Heard it When We Were Young,” released in 2021 with The University of Iowa Press. Chuy is the Arts & Culture Editor for Little Village Magazine. He spends his free time with his wife Darcy and daughter Marisol Alana.
