Hey, y'all. Finally getting around to jumping on here. I've lived in & around Iowa City since 1975. Poetry & nonfiction prose. I've always been a bit IWW-adjacent - did study with Bell & MacPherson as a undergrad in the late '70s - so I particularly value the kind of writing community offered by PorchLight & Jenny. I worked in letterpress publishing in the early '80s - Toothpaste / Coffee House Press in West Branch. And eventually found my footing (or calling) in public education, where I discovgered the joy in introducing students to great poetry & creative writing & literary magazine publishing. In my role as an advisory board member of Iowa City Poetry (shout out to Lisa Roberts), I help to organize the Iowa City Poetry Alfresco event, which will be held on April 29 this year.
